This fall’s bout season started off last weekend with a trip to Trondheim, Norway (from now on always thought of as the country of brunost) to take on Nidaros Roller Derby. Despite lacking a dedicated bench crew (our captain Mad Fish and co-captain Karrkrash filled these positions as well as playing the bout) we were not rattled, but ready and determined to bring home yet another victory.
It was obvious from the start that Nidaros was not going to give us an easy time, but DCR managed to get a hold of the game, steadily and surely increasing the lead throughout the whole first half. However Nidaros, thirsty for revenge, came back with renewed strength in the second half. Due to a couple of unfortunate power jams and a bit too many trips to the box for the blockers as well the Norwegians were able to catch up on points, causing the last minutes of the bout to turn in to a real nailbiter. Finally Nidaros managed to land the victory with a score of 205-194.
All in all it was a really fun bout and the Nidaros players were really awesome opponents and great hosts. We are already looking forward to a rematch!
