Last weekend the first ever Swedish championships in roller derby took place in Halmstad and Dock City Rollers was of course one of the eight participating teams, eager to fight for the gold.
The first bout was played against Ume Radical Rollers. Ume put up a good fight, but DCR quickly got hold of the game and ended up winning with 316-81.
Later the same night it was time to take on Stockholm Roller Derby. It was a hard but incredibly fun game which ended 237-74 in STRDs favour.
The last bout (actually the last bout of the tournament) was played late Sunday evening and it was a fight for the bronze medal. It turned out to be a Gothenburg showdown with Dock City Rollers playing against Gothenburg Roller Derby for the first time ever! The first half was quite even to begin with, but DCR soon got their act together and started increasing the lead, finally bringing home the bronze with a score of 363-109.
Stockholm Roller Derby stood as the winners of the final bout and thereby became the first Swedish roller derby champions while Crime City Rollers from Malmö brought home the silver. The final was shown on SVT Play and can still be seen here: http://www.svtplay.se/video/1309561/final-7-7-17-30
